Body Mass Index

BMI is the body weight in pounds divided by the square or the height in inches. While BMI does not actually measure body fat, it tends to correlate well with the degree of obesity. It should not be used alone for diagnosis.

Please note that the BMI does not distinguish between fat and muscle. It is possible for a heavily muscled individual to have a BMI in excess of 25 without increased health risks.
